Hi, my name is Jake, a.k.a. The Salmon Daddy.
In May of 2020, I relaunched my family's business called Zaidies. In 1981, my father opened up the original Zaidies. A restaurant located in his grandparent's hotel, Rabiner's in Ste Agathe, Quebec.
As a child, I always knew I wanted to use the name Zaidies for a food project but never knew for what. I have always been a big consumer of food but never a purveyor.

In 2014, my father mastered his smoked salmon recipe.
He always made it for friends and family, and it quickly became something everyone was trying to get their hands on. There was always something special and unique to his smoked salmon that was incomparable.

I was one of many whose work was affected by covid. Not knowing when things would go back to normal, I needed to get another job or make my way as an entrepreneur. It was the perfect opportunity to mesh Zaidies with the smoked salmon.

Initially, I didn't expect anything of it. I was building Zaidies as a side hustle until things went back to normal. The popularity of our smoked salmon quickly got consumed by the city of Montreal.
